THE SUN FACES EAST

Oh, great sun -
how you warm my heart,
and every beat of my heart
is warmed by your rays.

Today I watch your face -
east is the way of your soul.
I know as our souls unite eastward
like the wondrous star of that Holy night -
east you are called upon to face.

Give your light to all creation -
direction will be of each his choice.
Face your direction in life,
and as days come and go
sun follows you wherever you go.

Don't follow your shadow
cast by father sun -
but follow its light to eastern shores
and teach yourselves not in the darkness
created by the past -
only to live to shine like eastern sun.
